GC SBDC receives six awards including SBDC of the Year


The Grayson College Small Business Development Center received six awards including the
SBDC of the Year award recently. The six awards included – SBDC of the Year, North Texas
SBDC of the Year, North Texas SBDC State Star, North Texas SBDC Administrative
Excellence Award and two 2018 Million Dollar Loan Club awards.


“The awards received by the Grayson College Small Business Development Center are
indicative of the hard work and professionalism of the entire staff,” GC SBDC Director Karen
Stidham said. “It is important to note that every staff member was recognized for outstanding
performance individually as well as collectively. The effort of each team member coupled with
the strong support of our host college is undoubtedly the key to our success.”


The SBDC of the Year award was presented to the GC SBDC by the Small Business
Administration Dallas/Ft. Worth District Office. The DFW SBA District covers 72 counties in
North, East and Central Texas.


The North Texas SBDC of the Year award was presented is the highest award given to a center
by the North Texas Small Business Development Center. NTSBDC includes 14 centers covering
48 counties in North and East Texas. Award is based on successful achievements and
outstanding growth.


The North Texas SBDC State Star award was presented to GC SBDC Director Dr. Karen
Stidham. This is the highest individual award presented by the North Texas SBDC.
The North Texas SBDC Administrative Excellence Award was presented to GC SBDC
administrative assistant Helen Jeffcoats. This is the highest award presented to administrative
assistants by the NTSBDC office. The award was created to honor outstanding performance and
contribution to center success.


The 2018 Million Dollar Loan Club award was presented to Business Adviser Ken Mullins for
assisting clients in securing $1,010,000 in business loans during the 2018 fiscal year. This award
was also presented Business Adviser Homer “Dee” Cawthon for assisting clients in securing
$3,425,000 in business loans during the 2018 fiscal year.
